Roadrunner Records is proud to announce the signing of progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater.
A new studio album, Systematic Chaos is due in June. Dream Theater will hit the road in support of the album for a world tour, including major festival appearances in Europe.
"Dream Theater and Roadrunner Records have led parallel careers on the cutting edge of metal for many years," say A&R men, Derek Oliver & Dante Bonutto, "We're thrilled to be working with a genuine market-leader, and when you add everything the guys bring to the table to the independent spirit and work ethic of the label, the results can only be exciting in the extreme!"
Prior to teaming up with Roadrunner, Dream Theater was signed to a seven-album deal with Warner Music Group worldwide. The deal commenced with the critically acclaimed and commercially successful Images And Words (1992), a Gold-certified US release, and concluded, in equal style, with Octavarium (2005), a Top 40 Billboard outing. In August of last year the band issued Score, a live album/DVD (recorded at Radio City Music Hall in New York), which went straight to the No. 1 spot on the Billboard DVD charts, knocking Pink Floyd from the top!
Systematic Chaos, Dream Theater's ninth studio release, arrives at a time when the band is casting a longer-than-ever shadow across the rock and metal landscape. Their influence is being acknowledged by an increasing number of contemporary, cutting-edge acts such as Stone Sour, Trivium, Shadows Fall, Opeth as their fan base continues to grow.

Dream Theater - Seek New Label/Recording New Album
Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy revealed during an appearance on October 6 on the "Friday Night Rocks" radio show on New York's Q104.3 FM that the band has ended its longtime collaboration with Atco/EastWest Records/The Atlantic Group and is currently in talks with several labels about a possible new record deal.
In addition, the group has entered a New York City studio with engineer Paul Northfield (Rush, Queensryche, Suicidal Tendencies, Marilyn Manson) to begin recording its follow-up to 2005's "Octavarium", tentatively due next April/May. A few excerpts from Portnoy's "Friday Night Rocks" interview follow:
On current label negotiations and new album recordings:
"We didn't wanna sit around waiting to close up the deal and deal with all the legal paperwork and all that, and have to wait until all that was done to start the record, so we booked the studio time ? we wanted to start the record ? so we started a month ago. But we've been meeting with lots of labels since we are here in New York , and I think we're probably days to weeks away from making a decision and making an announcement."
"We've done all of this pretty much on our own at this point. The labels thus far have? With the exception of our heyday 15 years ago, with 'Images and Words' and everything ? other than that, we've pretty much just built this thing on our own, so it'll be amazing to see what we can do with a little bit of support."

The DVD will also contain a one hour Documentary tracking the entire career of the band from the very beginnings at the Berklee College Of Music in 1985 all the way to the Radio City Music Hall grand finale. Including rare never before seen footage and interviews with current and previous members of the band. Also included on the DVD are several live bonus tracks from through the years taken from drummer Mike Portnoy's Archives. Dream Theater's acclaimed 1999 concept album "Scenes From A Memory" is being turned into a full-length stage play. Adapted and directed by long-time Dream Theater fan Danni Segal, this is a prose play, not a performance of the CD.
The play runs for four performances from 17th - 19th of November, 2005 (that's 3 evening performances and 1 Saturday matinee) at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill, East Sussex (between Hastings & Eastbourne in South-East England).
As this may be the only time this is ever done, anyone interested is warmly encouraged to come along and see it while they can.
Full details can be found at the BATS website at http://www.thebats.co.uk , which will be regularly updated as work progresses.

"On August 19, beginning at 7 pm Eastern, Delicious Agony Progressive Rock Radio will be airing its Second Annual Dream Theater Marathon. For 48 hours we will suspend our regular progressive rock programming and play on Dream Theater and related projects. Dream Theater - New Bassist For The Upcoming Tour
According to the official website of the band, Boosty Collins should replace John Myung during the next tour of Dream Theater?
Mike Portnoy said during an interview: John is a fan of Saturday Night Fever and he always tries to Dance like Travolta? But he is definitely better with a bass than on the Dance Floor? We will miss him during the tour but he cannot play with his injured leg ? Bootsy will be perfect one to replace him?
Bootsy seems to be really happy to do this upcoming tour with the masters of the Progressive Metal and he promised to put some groove into the music of the Famous American "disco" Metal act.
Also, as an insight from the future tour, the band will play some Joe Dassin songs, remixed to be suited for Dream Theater.
For the show in Oslo, the headliner will be Bee Gees reformed.
A Funky and Disco tour in perspective?
